Paula’s Pancake House

On our way to San Luis Obispo for our mini anniversary getaway, we stopped by the historic Dutch town of Solvang to get breakfast at Paula’s Pancake House.

It was such a beautiful day outside, we decided to sit on the covered patio and enjoy the breeze.

As Solvang’s original pancake house, this family-owned restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch. The menu says they are “world-famous” for their Dutch pancakes, so we both had to try them!

Apparently, Dutch pancakes are very thin, almost like a crepe. These pancakes were light and delicious, the bacon was thick, and the over-easy eggs were just right.

To be honest, it’s hard to mess up breakfast, but for some reason many restaurants do. Luckily for us, Paula’s landed it just right.

Tips:

  • There are public parking lots located throughout downtown Solvang. Plan for extra time to walk to the restaurant.
  • Breakfast is served all day. Lunch is available starting at 11 am.
  • The coffee was not the greatest. If you rely on this golden source of life-giving beverage, plan on picking it up at a different location.
  • Turkey sausage is available. Yay!
