On our way to San Luis Obispo for our mini anniversary getaway, we stopped by the historic Dutch town of Solvang to get breakfast at Paula’s Pancake House.
It was such a beautiful day outside, we decided to sit on the covered patio and enjoy the breeze.
As Solvang’s original pancake house, this family-owned restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch. The menu says they are “world-famous” for their Dutch pancakes, so we both had to try them!
Apparently, Dutch pancakes are very thin, almost like a crepe. These pancakes were light and delicious, the bacon was thick, and the over-easy eggs were just right.
To be honest, it’s hard to mess up breakfast, but for some reason many restaurants do. Luckily for us, Paula’s landed it just right.
Tips:
- There are public parking lots located throughout downtown Solvang. Plan for extra time to walk to the restaurant.
- Breakfast is served all day. Lunch is available starting at 11 am.
- The coffee was not the greatest. If you rely on this golden source of life-giving beverage, plan on picking it up at a different location.
- Turkey sausage is available. Yay!
