Nestled amid the majestic Great Smoky Mountains, we embarked on an exciting adventure to discover unique things to do in Pigeon Forge, a southern entertainment haven like no other. Our destination: Margaritaville Island Hotel, a tropical oasis right in the heart of The Island, a vibrant hub of shops, rides, and restaurants.

Step outside the hotel and you are immediately in the Island shops and entertainment center. Aa a matter of fact, there are separate entrances throughout the Island that allow you to quickly head back inside the hotel.

This resort is more than just a place to rest your head; it’s an experience in itself.

Margaritaville: Where History Meets Hospitality

Before we dive into the accommodations, let’s savor a slice of Margaritaville’s history. Founded by the iconic Jimmy Buffett, this brand represents a laid-back lifestyle, full of good times and unforgettable moments. And that’s precisely what we found during our stay.

The margaritaville island foyer was warm and inviting. While we didn’t have a need this trip, this would be a great place gathering place for your party before starting the day’s activities.

Finding the right room for your party

Our check-in experience had a few hiccups, but the Margaritaville staff was a shining beacon of hospitality. Their helpfulness, friendliness, and willingness to accommodate our needs made us feel right at home. As a result, we had the unexpected opportunity to see more than just one type of room.

Double Queen Guest Room – Cozy Comfort

Our journey began with a stay in the Double Queen Guest Room. These rooms are the epitome of cozy comfort, with two plush queen beds to ensure a restful night’s sleep. It’s important to note that most of these rooms don’t include a sofa sleeper, but a select few exist so you will need to call ahead.

The two queen room was nice, but the pictures from the website showed the accessible room with a sofa sleeper. We wanted that option because it’s nice to have a couch to sit at in your room and our sons usually take turns sleeping on the sofa sleeper.

Many of the two queen rooms are accessible with walk-in showers. This was the room we originally booked.

One Bedroom whirlpool tub Suite – Spacious Serenity

For those seeking a bit more space, the One Bedroom Suite beckons. With a separate living area, a fully equipped kitchenette, and a luxurious king-size bed in the bedroom, it’s a sanctuary of serenity amidst the excitement of The Island. They accidentally sent us to this room thinking it was the two bedroom suite.

The one-bedroom suite offers a separate living room with a sofa sleeper. The bummer about the gas fireplace is forced off during the summer. Understandable, but if you’re planning to have a romantic fireplace setting you’re out of luck Romeo!

Two Bedroom Suite – Family-Friendly Choice

Now, let’s talk about the Two Bedroom Suite. While it’s a fantastic option for larger groups, there’s a catch. The second bedroom is more like a cozy nook with two twin beds and a TV squeezed in. Space is limited, making it ideal for families with small children who don’t mind the snug quarters.

Our boys had a hard time with the second “bedroom”, not only because they are too big for twin beds, but the “room” is smaller than most walk-in closets.
